Noodle Arm Disc Golf’s March Mold Mania: The Championship

Get ready to riot, disc golf fans.
Noodle Arm Disc Golf’s March Mold Mania has finally reached the championship round, and it’s a doozy of a matchup.
Riding high after laying waste to the Control/Fairway Bracket, the mighty Innova Teebird escaped from the semifinal round with a 49-vote win over the upstart Westside Discs World. While the 14 seed’s Cinderella story finally struck midnight, it was an impressive run for a disc released just last year.
In the battle of Dynamic Discs, the Judge just could not handle the Truth. (That was both cheap and easy, and I will not apologize.) The flagship midrange out of Kansas defeated its company-mate by a 55-vote margin, further cementing its claim as one of the most popular discs on the market.
Now, we are left with two molds. In one corner is a longtime staple of many bags that – regardless of brand loyalty – has earned vast respect over the years. In the other is a challenger to the stable midrange throne that has made its mark in a far shorter period of time than its opponent.
First PDGA-approved in 1999 as the Thunderbird, the Innova Discs Teebird – for those not in the know – boasts the classic flight most disc golfers need to carve up fairways. Boasting impeccable high speed stability and a reliable ending fade, it’s a tremendous disc for shots that need to go straight, regardless of conditions. Plus, clocking in at a speed rating of 7 makes it accessible to players of nearly all skill levels.
The Dynamic Discs Truth, meanwhile, was approved for release in June of 2013 as the company’s fourth midrange. It immediately became a hit, challenging for a piece of stable midrange supremacy in a field dominated by the Discraft Buzzz and Innova Roc. On the long side for a midrange, it, too, is known for being a disc that is easy to throw on a rope.
It’s only fitting, then, that these two discs square off in our championship. Long and straight are probably the two most desirable traits in a mold, but these two seem to have captured the hearts of Noodle Arm Disc Golf’s readers. Who will be crowned champion, and which will collect itself to gear up for a title run next year?
It’s up to you. Go!
